Garlic. Allium sativum is a bulbous plant originally from Asia and it produces countless biologically active molecules: alliin and its derivatives, allicin, ajoene, diallyl disulfide and others.
These molecules work as prebiotic and also work as antibacterial, antifungal, vermifuge, and anti-oxidant.
They are mostly absorbed in the intestines, which means that allicin and the other molecules should ideally get to the bowels intact. The best and most reliable method is to use fish food containing dry garlic extract. In order for its prebiotic action to work, fish must ingest garlic products several times a week, in constant amounts.
