Tetra PhosphateMinus reliably removes excessive phosphate (PO4) from the aquarium water. Phosphate continuously accumulates in the aquarium water through the decomposition of organic substances such as fish faeces, food and plant residues. This is a natural process in the aquarium. However, the condition of the tap water used also affects the PO4 value. Phosphate is essential for aquarium inhabitants and plants, as it is needed for many biochemical processes such as photosynthesis. However, too much phosphate in the aquarium (above 2 mg/l) promotes the growth of undesirable plants. In addition, excessive levels of this nutrient can affect water quality. Therefore, the PO4 level should be as low as possible (below 2 mg/l). Tetra PhosphateMinus gently and reliably removes excessive phosphate from the water (up to 2 mg/l when the recommended dosage is observed). A major advantage of this product is that it does not cause turbidity or deterioration of the aquarium water or deposits on the substrate. Its active ingredient – an organic iron compound – decomposes slowly and naturally. Within only 48 hours, the product is biodegraded in the aquarium by microorganisms and can be absorbed and removed by the aquarium’s filter together with the remaining phosphate residues. The filter must therefore be cleaned regularly to completely remove the degraded phosphate from the ecosystem. Tetra PhosphateMinus reliably lowers the PO4 value without affecting the carbonate hardness (KH). For this reason, the product is also suitable for aquariums with soft water. This makes Tetra PhosphateMinus a reliable and safe care product for all aquarium inhabitants.
